We collect your child directly from school, so there's no scramble to leave work early and no handing them off to someone else. Already nearby, or prefer to drop off yourself? There's a drop-off option at a reduced rate.

The 3 O'Clock Problem
School lets out in the middle of the afternoon. Most jobs don't. That gap is one of the hardest parts of parenting in Maple Ridge, and the usual answers — an empty house, a patchwork of favours, leaving early and making up the hours later — all cost you something.
Our after school program closes that gap properly. We pick your child up from school, bring them back to the academy, and keep them busy until you're free. You get your workday back, and they get an afternoon that's actually good for them.
How Pick-Up Works
We run school pick-up for local Maple Ridge schools, including Maple Ridge Elementary. Our coaches collect your child at 2:20pm, Monday to Friday, and bring them straight to the academy at 20172 113B Avenue. The program runs from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
Pick-up spots are limited and do fill up. If the service is full, or if your child's school isn't on our route yet, the drop-off option gets you the same program at 15% off the program fee. Call us at 604-754-3479 and we'll tell you straight away whether we can cover your school.
What They Actually Do
The afternoon mixes structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction with games, movement, and free play. It isn't two hours of drilling — kids that age need to blow off steam before they can concentrate, and we build the session around that.
By the time you collect them they've trained, played, and spent the afternoon with kids their own age instead of a tablet.
The Part Parents Mention Most
Jiu-Jitsu is unusually good at this. It's a sport where a smaller, quieter kid can succeed through technique and persistence rather than size, and where progress is visible enough that they feel it themselves.
The kids who start with us shy in September are usually not the shy ones by spring. That's the change parents tell us about, far more than anything to do with belts.

A Family-Run Academy
Emerald Rolling Academy is owned and run by Sean and Lataya Mooney. It isn't a franchise with rotating staff — the people picking your child up are the same people coaching them, every day.
If you want to see it before committing, come and watch a session. Most parents decide in about ten minutes of standing at the edge of the mat.
More Than After School Care
Plenty of after school care in Maple Ridge will keep your child safe until you arrive. Ours does that and sends them home with something — focus, fitness, and a martial art they're genuinely excited about.
Jiu-Jitsu asks kids to listen, remember a sequence, and execute it. That's the same muscle their teachers are trying to build in the classroom.
A six-year-old and an eleven-year-old don't need the same session. Our coaches group and pace kids so nobody is lost and nobody is bored.
Kids arrive from a day of sitting still. They leave having moved hard for an afternoon — which tends to make bedtime a lot easier too.

Yes. School pick-up is included in the after school program and runs at 2:20pm on school days. We serve local Maple Ridge schools including Maple Ridge Elementary. Spots on the pick-up route are limited, so call 604-754-3479 to confirm we currently cover your child’s school.

The after school program is for elementary-age kids, in line with our kids Jiu-Jitsu program for ages 5 to 12. Get in touch if your child is close to that range and we'll talk it through.
